“The Kádár Era and Everyday Ingenuity” Travelling Exhibition Opens in Gálosfa

At 11:00 a.m. on 13 June 2025, museologists Tamás Móser and Gábor Kőszegi from the Museum of Ethnography officially opened the travelling exhibition The Kádár Era and Everyday Ingenuity in Gálosfa. Visitors came from five surrounding villages, filling the entire Village Hall.

During the informal conversation following the opening, attendees shared personal stories about improvised items, getting by under challenging circumstances, and everyday resourcefulness. In addition to the roll-up panels, the exhibition includes several recently collected and fascinating improvised objects from the museum’s collection, bringing to life the creativity of their original makers.

The project is part of the Petőfi Cultural Programme, realised within the Regional Cultural Services Model Programme of the National Institute for Culture, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Innovation. The aim of the programme is to ensure that the knowledge preserved in the Museum of Ethnography is accessible not only in Budapest but also in the smallest of settlements — presented with both professional care and engaging storytelling.
