2022 During the museum’s closure and in response to the restrictions imposed by the pandemic, the idea of The Patience Bottle was born to create an educational resource and encourage and develop patience. The digital material, available both on the museum’s website and on the interactive screens of the MÉTA space, has also proven its usefulness at external venues and during school outreach programmes.
2022 received the ICOM Special Prize in the Museum Education Excellence Award competition.

The film The Casting Net – Small-Scale Fishing in Baja won the Via Europa Award at the ETNOFILM Cadca 2022 international festival. The filmmakers received the award on January 20, 2023, at the Hungarian Institute in Bratislava as part of Hungarian Culture Day. The film was awarded for its visually outstanding depiction of the preservation of living cultural heritage.
2022 The Museum of Ethnography's EthnoZoom – the collection's storytelling objects, a moving image work, won the Silver Award in the short film category at the FAIMP 2.0 festival organized by the International Council of Museums (ICOM).
The Museum of Ethnography is among the world's greatest places on TIME's list. On March 16, 2023, TIME magazine published its list of the best places to visit in 2023, recommending 50 unique destinations.
2022 Family-Friendly Workplace Award
In October 2022, János Csák, Minister of Culture and Innovation, issued a certificate of recognition to the collective of the Museum of Ethnography's public collection in recognition of the institution's outstanding professional activities. As he said, the Museum of Ethnography successfully completed Hungary's largest museum relocation project, the complexity and short deadline of which set an international standard, as confirmed by the international conference held in May. Moving the collection to a worthy home required great expertise and dedication, and the museum staff deserve thanks for their exemplary performance.
