Based on a decision by the Director-General, we want to make the collection exhibition available to 10 000 students from disadvantaged regions each year, at a reduced rate. In order to achieve this goal, the Knowledge Mediation Department has developed a sponsorship plan, which offers prospective sponsors a range of packages and access forms (public transport or bus from outlying areas).
In December 2024, the first donation was received, providing museum tickets for 600 disadvantaged students in rural areas. The programme was successfully completed at the end of March 2025.
We have experienced that reaching schools and parents of children from deprived areas is a special challenge, and that building receptiveness in these communities requires more preparation, hence we turned to the Hungarian Maltese Relief Service for help.
Thanks to this partnership, we now have a national reach. The staff of the Presence Points established by the organisation are in daily contact with the families living there, who have confidence in them and value all the community programmes they organise.
The children from the regions involved came to us full of enthusiasm and anticipation, many of them visiting the capital for the first time. They raised new questions and new perspective which we would like to use as source of inspiration to further develop our sessions in the future.
