This exhibition takes the work and community-organizing activity of landscape architect and textile artist Anna Dolányi as its starting point to present the history and operation of the Hungarian Patchwork Guild and the broader tradition of patchwork in Hungary. Based on an open call, the exhibition explores the history, spread, and working mechanisms of patchwork, as well as efforts to brand Hungarian quilting with a distinct national identity. It also incorporates material from previous exhibitions. At the same time, the show highlights the Guild’s community-building strength, the creation of women’s networks, and the role of individual and collective handicraft or creative work in people’s lives. The exhibition plan includes a dedicated workshop space where the Guild’s active work can be made visible and tangible—reviving the communal spirit of the traditional fonó (spinning room) in a contemporary form.
